How to Build a Powerful Presentation From Scratch – Part 1 of 2

How to Build a Powerful Presentation From Scratch – Part 1 of 2

In this two-part series, we’ll explore the finer points of crafting a powerful presentation. During part one, we cover the basics – but don’t be fooled by the simplicity of these tips! All the best presentations have these characteristics in common.

1. Less is more.

Let’s face it – we live in the age of Twitter communication, where anything longer than a sentence starts to lose our interest. We’re constantly being bombarded with information at every turn, so it pays to keep things brief. Sound bites rule! Of course you’ll want to have supporting information to back up any bold declarations you make, but there is something to be said for brevity. Don’t be afraid to end this presentation and you just might get invited back to speak in more detail on your chosen topic!

2. Keep it relevant.

The lecture format is passe’. Keep the mood fresh and engaging, invite questions and audience participation, and if you have a longer presentation, incorporate an activity or exercise that gets people involved while driving home a key point. Use current references and analogies, don’t be afraid to weave in pop culture references if you can make it relate to your key point (assuming this is a match for your audience).

3. Be enthusiastic.

Odds are, you can fondly remember a teacher from your grade school days and you may remember things that he or she taught you – even if you didn’t particularly like the subject itself! Likable people keep us interested and engaged, and enthusiasm is contagious. Bring your own passion into your presentation and your audience will sit up and take notice — even if the very same material would have bored them on paper.

4. Know when to hold ’em

It is positively baffling how many speakers and presenters don’t know how to simply and effectively use audiovisuals. Used properly, these tools can enhance a presentation, drive home key points, and keep the focus where it belongs: on the speaker. Anything else becomes a distraction that leads to boredom. Look around – there are plenty of articles here on this blog that demystify the proper use of rental projectors and audiovisual support. Read up on the subject matter and you can master this quickly and easily!

5. Meat and potatoes

Be sure to structure your presentation so that it has plenty of meat (valuable subject matter, new information, useful tips, etc.) as well as potatoes (such as supporting explanations, demonstrations, hands-on experiences, and exercises or material designed to reinforce the key points). A presentation that’s “all-meat” often gives too much new material without allowing for integration, which may result in a much lower retention of the information by the audience. Similarly, an “all-potato” presentation lets the participant walk away feeling as though they learned nothing new or useful. As a presenter, it’s up to you to strike a balance.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your presentation packs a punch and keeps your audience engaged.…

Popular Uses For the Fixed Projector Screen

Popular Uses For the Fixed Projector Screen

One very popular use for the fixed projector screen is the home theater. More and more people these days are buying projectors and screens to use in their home theater as opposed to buying an LCD television for example. When going this route, many people buy good second-hand or refurbished projectors, which usually work very well. Doing this can really cut back on the costs of setting up a home theater.

While projector screens are very common in classrooms these days normally they are the electric type, which can roll up out of sight when not being used. This option does seem much more realistic for use in the classroom, even though the costs are a little higher for the electric retractable projector screen.

Some businesses and offices have fixed projector screens installed in their meeting rooms. It should be noted though that when using a projector with a screen it is important that the room is very dark. Consequently offices that use these type of projectors do need to also consider adding some type of black-out blind to their windows so that everyone will be able to easily see the presentation.

If your home theater is in a room that is separate from your main living area, then you may want to consider permanently affixing a fixed projector screen. If your living room doubles as your home theater that may not work so well, as aesthetically not everyone likes to have a screen permanently fixed to the wall and a retractable screen may be better in that situation.

There are some cons to using a fixed screen. Most notably, the screen can get dirty or damaged fairly easily as it is down all of the time. If this would not be likely to happen in your situation, and you are fairly certain that the screen will remain in good condition, then it would certainly be quite a bit less expensive for you to use a fixed screen.…

Different Types Of Projector Screen Material

Different Types Of Projector Screen Material

Projectors are used for many reasons and there are many different types of surfaces that their screens can be made of. These surfaces all have different benefits and downsides. This article will discuss a few of the more common types of projector screen material that are available and the benefits of each of them.

Matt white surfaces are the cheapest and the most versatile surface that is available. They can show the images clearly and there is no risk of hotspotting. This means that the image clarity will be the same all over the screen. They have a wide viewing area which allows for a larger audience to view them. It is necessary to control the lighting with this material when it is in use.

A high-contrast grey surface will enhance the blacks while maintaining the quality of lighter colors. It has a high resolution image and a 180 degree viewing area. You will need to control the ambient light with this surface as well.

Optical materials enhance and focus the image. They are capable of absorbing light from the surrounding lights so that the colors are brighter. They can function in any type of ambient light and can increase the contrast of projected images. These tend to be much more expensive than the other materials.

High gain materials will create a brighter and more impressive image. They are prone to hotspotting and do not have a large viewing area. Only people directly in front of the projection can see the image at its best.

Acoustically transparent materials are great for use with speakers. They are made out of a woven or diffused material that has a lot of holes in it. This allows the user to place a speaker behind it without the sound be altered or diminished. It is typically used in home theater systems or other theater systems.

There are many different of projector screen materials, just know what you want and you will be able to find one to suit your needs.…

Television and Projector Lifts Offer Many Benefits to Their Owners

Television and Projector Lifts Offer Many Benefits to Their Owners

When it comes to creating a sleek and attractive look in any room of your home or office that contains a television or projector and screen, using motorized wall systems can go a long way toward achieving that goal.

Whether using projector lifts or other types of motorized wall systems, selecting the right type of equipment makes it possible to tuck your television or display neatly away when not in use.

In fact, some of the benefits associated with using motorized wall systems include:

The television can be moved out of the way when it is not in use, whether raised out of the way or folded out of place.

Depending upon the type of lift you select, you can adjust the angle of the television to improve the viewing position.

Some projector lifts will automatically lower when the equipment is turned on, and will automatically raise when turned off

When searching for the right motorized wall systems to suit your individual needs, it is important to consider your lifestyle, the type of television or projector you have, as well as your budget.

Obviously, you will want to stick with only those motorized wall systems that fit the dimensions of your television or projector. At the same time, you want to be certain to select a quality system that you can count on to perform properly each and every time you put it to use.

After all, if you use your television or projector on a regular basis, you don’t want to chance having mechanical problems from inferior equipment.

In addition to selecting motorized wall systems that are of the proper dimensions, including those that are made from quality materials and with quality craftsmanship, you also want to choose a system that offers the features you desire.

For example, not all television lifts allow the user to make adjustments to the viewing angle. Or, those that do allow for adjustments may have limits to their range. With projector lifts, on the other hand, you may have to choose between those that automatically lift and lower when in use, and those that have to be lifted and lowered separately.

The bottom line is that motorized wall systems can make your life a lot easier, while also giving your home or office a sleeker and more attractive appearance. At the same time, you should be sure to explore all of your options carefully so you can be certain the television or projector lift you select is the right one to suit your unique needs.…

What You Should Know About Fintech and Data Science

Fintech, short-hand for financial technology, has been growing with popularity rapidly. Technological advances have exploded over the years, including in the financial realm. Here is what you need to know about fintech.

What Is Fintech, Really?

Fintech is an area of technology that focuses on finance. This could mean apps for mobile banking, blockchains, and artificial intelligence. Some of the advances that can be found include using artificial intelligence for financial customer support and using blockchain technologies for cryptocurrency. A huge range of what is considered fintech exists, but you should know that most things that marry financial services with technological advances are included. Fintech has most likely become a regular part of your life and will continue to do so, with new advancements in this technological arena happening all of the time. Businesses, such as fintech consulting firm Cane Bay Partners, seek to help other financial companies really hone in on improving their financial products.

Where Does Data Science Come In?

Data science can be a confusing field. In simple terms, this science involves looking at large amounts of statistical data to find actionable information that can be used for progress. When it comes to fintech, data science is a perfect partner because it allows for rapid problem-solving, anticipating questions and accurately giving information to both companies and technology users. Who Are The Professionals?

While fintech is not a new concept, it has been escalating in advancement over the years, like all areas of technology. You may be familiar with many aspects of fintech, including being able to see your credit score online, having an app for investments, and using artificial intelligence bots to answer your questions.
